Most Dropbox problems trace back to the same three causes: no folder naming standard, permissions granted ad hoc instead of by design, and no admin ever auditing the config. We've been fixing that as an official Dropbox partner since 2015.
The most common issues we fix in an existing Dropbox instance — before they cost your team hours every week.
We regularly see files prefixed with symbols to force sort order, and folders nested nine levels deep with the same name repeated at every level (Acme > Acme Accounting > Acme Accounts Payable > Acme 2017 > Acme January). Our recommended convention: date first, full name, hyphens instead of spaces — e.g. 07-10-2018-file-name. Search engines, local and cloud, index this cleanly.
Dropbox permissions flow downward only — access granted at a folder level flows to its subfolders, never up. Your most sensitive, confidential content should live in a folder near the top of the structure that stays private, while collaborators and external users get invited further down the tree.
Users are invited at different folder levels, and that level becomes their "root folder." A folder titled "Sales - Corporate Team" orients a new user instantly; a folder titled "Corporate" does not. Consistent naming across the company helps every user stay oriented and search effectively.
If more than a couple of these sound familiar, it's time to talk.
From startups to mid-market, we scope engagements to your organization's size and complexity.

The biggest cause is an Apple/Windows file naming mismatch. Log out of the Dropbox icon, restart the computer, and log back in — the app should restart automatically and begin syncing. If you still don't see files your coworker can see, it's usually a naming convention issue between Mac and Windows machines.
The Dropbox admin console is where team admins manage users, groups, shared folders, security policies, and app integrations from a single dashboard. It covers user provisioning and deprovisioning, device approvals, sharing permissions, domain verification, activity reporting, and — on Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise plans — domain insights and account capture.
Dropbox uses waterfall permissions — access granted at a folder level flows down to subfolders, never up. We help clients structure their most sensitive content near the top of a private branch, and invite collaborators and external users further down the tree so permissions stay predictable as the team grows.

Yes — Dropbox supports custom integrations through protocols like SAML, WS-Federation, and OpenID Connect. Our consultants design and configure these integrations to meet your specific business needs, ensuring seamless, secure access to your applications.
Smart Sync lets users see every team file and folder from their desktop without taking up local disk space — files stay online-only until opened, then download on demand. It's especially useful for teams with large media or CAD files. We help clients configure default Smart Sync policies at the admin level so new team members start off storage-efficient from day one.
