Exchange Online Data Loss Prevention

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is an advanced policy management system that comes with Microsoft Office 365 (requires Exchange Online Plan 2 or higher). DLP policies work with email being managed through Microsoft Outlook and Office 365’s Outlook Web App (OWA).

As part of Microsoft’s security and compliance capabilities, DLP helps to keep sensitive data in-house and out of the wrong hands. For example, your organization may have a critical industry compliance requirement (like HIPAA). Or, you may simply be interested in keeping your company’s Excel price list from being sent outside of the company using Microsoft’s powerful Document Fingerprinting technology.
